GREENOCK Coastguard have asked the public to stop reporting an upturned vessel which is floating in the water off Gourock.
The vessel, which was secured by the coastguard on March 13 at Cardwell Bay, was sighted drifting off the Gantock earlier today, sparking a flurry of 999 calls.
However, a coastguard spokesperson has told the Telegraph that the reports are not required as there is no risk to life.
The maritime organisation have arranged for the vessel to be recovered later this evening during high water.
An HM Coastguard spokesperson said: "We are aware of an upturned vessel at Levan Point, Gourock.
"There is no life at risk, no requirement for anyone to report this vessel.
"The vessel will be recovered later this evening when safe to do so.
"In the event of an emergency dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
