MURDER detectives investigating the killing of Port Glasgow man Jack Trainner have today launched a further appeal for information. 

Police say they are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry as they probe the death of the 27-year-old, who was found seriously injured in Port Glasgow on April 27.

Mr Trainner was pronounced dead at the scene of the Brookfield Road incident after officers were called there at around 9:05pm. 

Officers have been carrying out house to house enquiries since the incident and are continuing to review CCTV footage from in and around the area. 

Detective Chief Inspector Graham McCreadie from the Major Investigation Teams said: “Our thoughts remain with Jack’s family.

"This is a very difficult time for them and I want to reassure them and the wider community that our murder inquiry is progressing and we are following a number of lines of investigation.

“Enquiries so far indicate that this was a targeted attack.

"Detectives are continuing to carry out house to house enquiries and view a large amount of CCTV footage from in and around the area.

“Police were called around 9.05pm and I am continuing to urge anyone who may have seen anything in area of Brookfield Road between 6pm and 11pm on Saturday, 27 April, or who has any private CCTV or dashcam footage to please contact us. Even the slightest bit of information could help with our enquiries.

“The local community have been keen to assist and we would like to reassure them that officers remain in the area and anyone with concerns should speak to them.”
