MORTON midfielder Cameron Blues was pleased that his side managed to secure a fifth place finish - even though he was left disappointed that a crazy ten-minute spell meant his side ended the season with defeat.
The combative midfielder was encouraged by his side's efforts in the Highlands in a game that he believes was summed up in a second-half spell that saw things turn on their head.
He revealed that despite Caley Thistle being awarded a penalty, their players insisted they shouldn't have had a spot kick. But looking away from the game he expressed his relief at being able to secure fifth place once again.
He said: "It's disappointing to lose out and end the season with a defeat. I'm also disappointed to have lost three goals, but in terms of the performance I thought that we were very good.
"That was both with 11 men and with ten men. It was a really tough game and Inverness were battling to try and stay out of the [relegation] play-offs, but I thought we put in a good shift with limited numbers again.
"I think it was quite slack from us to have lost the goal from a free kick, that wasn't a free kick in the first place.
"Then we did brilliant to get back into the game again and score through Kirk Broadfoot. But a crazy ten minutes just caused the game to unravel.
"Crazy sums it up. Their players said on the pitch that it wasn't a penalty, yet the penalty was given and then we're down to ten men within ten seconds too. It was just mad.
"But thankfully, with a bit of luck we've still managed to finish fifth anyway."
