POLICE are today investigating an incident involving a stopped sports car with a missing driver’s side door on the A8 near Langbank.
Traffic was held up after officers closed off one lane of the road for around two hours - shortly after an identical Audi TT was filmed being driven at excessive speed in a built-up area.
A recovery truck was called in to remove the distinctive white vehicle as villagers looked on.
One Langbank resident said: “I drove back to the village from Paisley around 3.45pm and found the westbound carriageway approaching the roundabout restricted to one lane. The inside lane was coned off and there was a white Audi TT sports car which appeared to have its driver’s door missing.”
“An hour later, I left the village travelling east and saw several police officers conducting a search of the Audi’s passenger compartment and boot.”
Another villager said: “I understand both lanes of the westbound approach to Langbank roundabout re-opened around 5.45pm.”
Last night our sister newspaper the Dumbarton Reporter posted a dashboard camera video of a white Audi TT tearing through a residential area near Clydebank prior to the Langbank incident.
The Telegraph tried to contact police today for information about had happened but no-one was available for comment.
