FIFTY jobs are being created in Port Glasgow with the opening of a new Burger King drive-through later this year, the Tele can reveal.
The fast food giants are looking for ‘crew members’, shift managers and supervisors at the new restaurant which is being built at the former Clydeport filling station site in Greenock Road.
The recruitment process is under way and Eileen McClafferty, who is an employer and partner manager for the Department for Work and Pensions in Inverclyde, says the new outlet is bringing an important retail jobs boost for the area.
She said: “It’s good to welcome new employment to the area as it will increase staff levels.
“It’s good to see that companies are investing in Inverclyde.”
Earlier this year, bosses at Burger King confirmed that staff at the Greenock restaurant in West Blackhall Street, which is due to close down, will be moved to the new drive-through in Port Glasgow.
It is understood that the 50 Port posts are in addition to the employees who will be transferred to the drive through.
The new Burger King is due to open in November.
Eileen added: “People can pick up application forms from the job centres in Greenock and Port Glasgow.”
The Tele contacted Burger King but the company refused to comment.
