A FURIOUS mum says she is living next to a jungle and can't open her windows for fear of her home being infested with insects.
Trisha McGrory, 43, says whenever she tries to ventilate her flat in Aberfoyle Road it immediately becomes full of flies, wasps and spiders because of the overgrown shrubbery right outside.
She has been battling with landlords Cloch Housing Association who say that the land belongs to the council and it is their responsibility.
Trisha said: "It's like living in a jungle, looking out my living room and kitchen windows.
"I found 25 flies on my windows the other day.
"I asked Cloch for fly nets but they were very cheeky and said they didn't provide them.
"I feel like someone on 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' - I'm laughing but it's not funny.
"Otherwise I would cry."
Trisha suffers from COPD and says not being able to open her windows is making her health worse.
Her four-year-old daughter Ellie also has asthma and the situation isn't helping her either.
Trisha said: "It's affecting our health."
Her neighbour Agnes Bain who lives upstairs says she is using flycatchers and her cats to deal with the problem.
Agnes told the Tele: "I think it's terrible. It needs to be cut back, there's loads of rubbish in the grass and the squirrels and seagulls are tearing open all the bags and leaving rubbish everywhere.
"One of our neighbours who lives on the top floor actually had squirrels in her kitchen."
A spokesperson for Cloch Housing Association said: "Staff have discussed the matter with the tenant and the matter is being dealt with through our complaints process.
"We have advised Ms McGrory that the overgrown area she is referring to is owned and maintained by Inverclyde Council and that we have informed them of the condition of this area.
"We have also asked Environmental Health to carry out an inspection.
"Our own landscapers have been carrying out regular maintenance to the areas around this block where we have responsibility.
"We also carry out routine estate management inspections and will make a further inspection to check on the condition of the bin store.”
A spokesman for Inverclyde Council said: “Cloch Housing have been in touch and we will take a look at their tenant’s complaint.”
