EMERGENCY services are working on scene after a vehicle has become engulfed in flames in Inverkip.
Fire crews were alerted to the vehicle blaze just beyond the Bankfoot Roundabout shortly after 2pm today.
Severe tailbacks are in both directions whilst police and fire crews work to extinguish the blaze.
It is believed that traffic is being directed via Ardgowan Estate and is coming out at Inverkip Marina.
A Scottish Fire & Rescue spokesperson said: "We were alerted to a vehicle fire in Inverkip at 2.02pm.
"Fire crews and police are in attendance."
Police Scotland have issued a note to drivers to avoid the area if possible.
Please note that due to a vehicle fire at Bankfoot Roundabout A78 are causing severe tailbacks in both directions while emergency services deal with the incident.

Inverkip Primary has also issued advice to parents collecting their children from the village school.
There appears to be an incident on the road into Inverkip. Please do not worry if you are driving and delayed. We will hold on to any child not collected!!
