A HEAVY police presence was spotted in a Greenock estate today as part of an investigation into an alleged attempted murder.
Several Police Scotland vehicles were parked up on Oxford Road, in the Larkfield area of the town, this afternoon (Friday May 26).
A force spokesperson confirmed officers have been carrying out enquiries in the street after a man was left seriously injured in a disturbance last month.
The Telegraph previously reported a 22-year-old man sustained injuries to his head and body after the reported serious assault on Dorset Road, at its junction with Oxford Road, around 11.20pm on April 13.
He was taken to hospital where he had been in a serious but stable condition.
In an earlier appeal, detectives said they were keen to trace witnesses and said a number of males were involved in the incident.

Detective Inspector Gordon Smith said: “We would also like to speak to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious vehicles around these streets, and in particular a grey car which was seen around this time
“If you have private CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage which might have captured anything, we ask that you check this to assist in our enquiries."
High visibility mounted patrols were also deployed in the area in the weeks after the incident as officers continued their probe.
Police Scotland stated previously that they were aware that up to a dozen males were involved in the disorder and that they were keen to trace one in particular.
The man was described as wearing a blue hooded top and was spotted running on Auchmead Road.
A police statement today added: “The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident number 4036 of April 13, 2023.
“Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given completely anonymously.”
