A DANGEROUS driving accused Greenock man sparked a police pursuit which ended in a three-crash crash, it is alleged.
Scott Donnelly is said to have driven at 'extreme speed' before smashing his car into two police vehicles on the town's St Lawrence Street.
Prosecutors say Donnelly, 45, also drove towards four officers, forcing them to take evasive action to avoid being struck by his vehicle.
It is alleged that he was behind the wheel without a licence and was in unlawful possession of a knife whilst on a sheriff court bail order.
Donnelly, of Partridge Street, had earlier failed to stop for police on East Hamilton Street prior to the blue lights chase, it is claimed.
The Crown says that he drove off at extreme speed from a stationary police vehicle before proceeding to drive dangerously and erratically.
It is alleged that he ignored give way junctions and caused his car to mount a footpath during the alleged incident on December 17, 2021.
He is said to have repeatedly reversed and maneouvred the vehicle at excessive speeds and collided with two police vehicles.
When Donnelly was apprehended, he is alleged to have struggled violently with police in an attempt to avoid handcuffs.
It is further claimed that he failed without reasonable excuse to comply with breath test procedures.
He is said to have committed the alleged offences on December 17, 2021.
Defence solicitor Aidan Gallagher said there were further points to be discussed in relation to the case at a pre-trial hearing in August - including medical records and police matters.
Donnelly has pleeaded not guilty to all of the indictment charges.
A jury trial trial is scheduled to get underway at the sheriff court on September 18.
