POLICE have launched a probe following the 'unexplained' death of a man in Greenock this morning.
Officers responded to a report of a sudden death within a property on West Blackhall Street at around 10.30am.
Fire service staff were spotted entering the property carrying a sledge hammer and a toolbox, with paramedics also on the scene.
Police have confirmed that the man was pronounced dead shortly after the arrival of emergency services.
They say the death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are taking place to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 10.30am on October 18 to a report of a sudden death within a property on West Blackhall Street in Greenock.
“Emergency services attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
