A BATTERY energy storage system could be developed in Port Glasgow if Inverclyde Council gives the go-ahead.
Bluestone Energy have lodged an application seeking permission for a 49-megawatt facility at the former Dougliehill Water Treatment Works at Dougliehill Road.
The firm say that the development would make use of disused brownfield land.
The site would be connected to the national electricity grid by cable to a substation at Devol Moor.
Planning officials are considering the application.
