PLANS to install a large solar panel array on the grounds of a Port Glasgow country park are being considered by Inverclyde Council planners.

Proposals to install a 150kw array across an area of approximately 0.1 hectare on Finlaystone Country Park Estate have been lodged with the local authority.

The application states that the panels will be set up in three tiers of around 50 metres and be surrounded by a fence.

It is stated that the new panels would supply green energy to Finlaystone Estate.

The proposed site for the array is 200 metres from an existing substation in a low-grade field which said not to be visible from any house or ‘formal part’ of the estate.

The land is currently rough grazing land which is predominately covered in bracken.

Technical documents submitted alongside the application state that the panels will be ground mounted and angled to catch the sun.
