EMERGENCY services rushed to Gourock's Victoria Road following reports of a car hanging off a nearby grass verge.
Police and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service staff were called to the incident at around 4:40pm yesterday after locals spotted the vehicle overhanging near the notoriously steep street.
Firefighters remained on the scene until the area was safe, with no casualties reported.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 4.41pm on Monday, 6 May to reports of a vehicle overhanging a grass verge in Gourock.
"Operations Control mobilised one appliance to the town's Victoria Road, where firefighters worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.
"There were no casualties."
