PORT Glasgow parents are pulling together to cut the cost of sending children back to school and reduce uniforms ending up in landfill.
St Stephen's High Parent Council's Cate McGeachy has helped relaunched the pre loved uniforms exchange involving schools in the town.
Together with a team of volunteers they have had tonnes of donations of all sizes and colours.
Now they are hoping that as many pupils as possible benefit for their campaign to stop wasting money.
They will be in the town centre this weekend with lots of uniforms for families to take home.
Mum-of-two Cate said: "We are always being asked to look at ways to reduce our carbon footprint and cut down on waste.
"This solves two problems it helps people during a cost of living crisis and you are helping the environment.
"The amount of items we have been donated is incredible and in such good condition. All of these items would end up in the landfill.
"I would say that when we do this we always have more donations than collections. I think there are two reasons.
"There are people out there who don't want to take something because they think that someone else needs it more.
"I would say don't worry about there is plenty to go around.
"Then there is maybe a stigma, there are people worried about going along, in case people talk about them being there.
"I would say that it is isn't about that, it is about recycling, it about everyone trying to cut down on waste. This is about the environment and if it helps people save some money, even better."
Organisers from the local schools teamed up with community hub Port Glasgow 2025, based in John Wood Street.
They organised local families to hand in donations to be sorted out.
So far dozens of families have benefited from the first event in St Francis Primary in Port Glasgow last weekend.
A second event will now take place in the Port Glasgow 2025 hub in John Wood Street this Saturday from 9.30 am to noon.
Parents are welcome to come in and have a look with lots of blazers, skirts, trousers, shirts and polo shirts of all sizes and colours for the Port schools.
