MORTON footballer Derek Lyle has been arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs.
The 30-year-old Ton striker was detained on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance following a police search at his home in Bishopbriggs.
His 29-year-old partner was also arrested following the search yesterday morning.
A police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm officers acting under a warrant entered a premises in Bishopbriggs on Friday and seized a quantity of controlled drugs.
"A 30-year-old man and his 29-year-old partner have been arrested." Operation Neptune is a Strathclyde Police crackdown aimed at tackling criminal activity including violent criminals, gangs and serious and organised crime groups, as well as anti-social behaviour.
Lyle, who was detained in custody, is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.
A spokeswoman for Greenock Morton FC said: "The club has been made aware of Derek Lyle's arrest and we are unable to comment further at this time."
