LIFE can be overwhelming sometimes and all you want is to be settled and at peace. But with so many difficult and nasty situations around the world, peace can be hard to find. I have said before that if there was a shop selling peace, I reckon it would no mighty well.

Without it we can feel quite lost, looking this way and that and running the other way but never feeling settled. And that’s before the horrors of wars and other matters get a hold of our mind and keep us from sleeping. Man’s inhumanity to his fellow men. Utterly wrong and destructive.

Yet into a troubled world like this one, stepped Jesus. Anointed by His Father he set about only doing good, yet knowing He would be slain on our behalf.

To many he brought great peace, He stilled angry waves when seasoned fishermen were frightened and cried out to Him. He filled hungry stomachs miraculously and sent demons flying.

And just as he called the 12 disciples and then 70 more, He wants to call you and me to Himself and to follow Him. Stretched out on that cross, having done no wrong, He paid the price for all our sinning. And He calls for you and me to follow Him.

If we are on a wrong path, He knows that already and will make a way of escape. He will change circumstances so that we have the chance of getting to know Him and following the right road thereafter. He is One we can depend on to be there for us through thick and thin.

Have you ever listened to this song about Him? ‘There is something about the name Jesus. It is the sweetest name I know. Some people say I’m crazy but I can’t explain the power that I feel when I call your name; it’s just like fire shut up in my bones. The Holy Ghost is moving and just won’t leave me alone.’ Try just saying the name Jesus to Him out loud this weekend. He brings peace. He brings joy. He will bring power into your life as never before.
