MORTON have today agreed a deal to sign Fleetwood Town striker Declan McManus on loan until the end of the season, the Tele can exclusively reveal.
McManus, 21, fired Ton to the League One title last term, scoring 23 goals over the course of a season-long loan from Aberdeen.
The Scotland Under-21 international moved south in the summer but has fallen out of the picture at Fleetwood, prompting the Cappielow club to seek out his services for the remainder of their Championship campaign.
And McManus could be involved as soon as Saturday's Renfrewshire derby with St Mirren provided Ton receive international clearance in time.
Speaking exclusively to the Tele, Ton chairman Douglas Rae said: "I'm very happy to announce that following negotiations with English League One club Fleetwood Town, they have agreed to let us have Declan McManus on loan until the end of this season.
"We are very hopeful that we will have Declan back in time to take part in the derby match against St Mirren at Cappielow on Saturday.
"That possibility, however, is subject to us receiving international clearance in time for Declan to be included in the team.
"This, I believe, is fantastic news which should be very pleasing to all Morton supporters and which also shows the ambition of the club.
"Hopefully, this news will add a few hundred extra supporters to Saturday's gate.
"Declan has been given only one instruction regarding his return to Cappielow: 'Be sure to remember to pack your scoring boots!'"
