MORTON are considering a summer swoop for Airdrie United defender Marc Smyth, the Tele can reveal.
The 27-year-old has attracted the attention of Ton management team James Grady and Allan McManus as they start looking at a number of possible transfer targets.
Smyth started his senior career at Ayr United, where a string of impressive performances earned him a move to Partick Thistle.
After a single season at Firhill, Smyth has since made over 100 appearances for Airdrie - but his deal with the Diamonds expires at the end of the season.
Boss James Grady is monitoring the player's situation but stressed that no firm enquiry had been made.
He said: "We know about him. We are aware his contract is coming up at the end of the season and that he would be available. But we haven't taken it any further." Assistant manager McManus added: "Marc is just one of a list of names we are aware of - we wouldn't be doing our job if we weren't looking.
