JOCKY SCOTT has thrown his hat into the ring for the Morton job.
The former Dundee manager may fit the bill of an experienced candidate with a knowledge of the First Division.
Scott has been out of work since being sacked by the Dens Park club in March after their title bid began to falter.
He is eager to get back into full-time football and would welcome an approach from the Cappielow club.
He told the Tele last night: "I am interested in any job that is full-time.
"I would just like to get back into the game and if any clubs are interested in me then I would be happy to speak to them." Allan Moore, the Stirling Albion manager, has been linked with the job, together with Alloa boss Allan Maitland.
The Telegraph understands Maitland has had no contact with anyone regarding the post. He remains in full-time employment with Cullen Packaging and has always expressed a preference to stay part-time.
As Moore told the Tele earlier this week, he is still under contract at Forthbank and the same scenario exists as the last time Ton had a vacancy, where compensation would need to be paid to secure his services.
Nevertheless, Moore, who led Albion to the Second Division title and is now preparing for life in the First Division next season, still has ambitions to take his managerial career to the next level.
He said: "I want to go full-time but the £160,000 [the compensation fee which Stirling quoted Ton in September] was too much - I don't even think I was worth that when I played. But the chairman Peter McKenzie reckoned that was what it would cost the club if they lost out on promotion. Well, he will gain that back now." Douglas Rae, the Ton chairman, reiterated his intention to take his time over the appointment of a new manager.
He said: "We have not contacted anyone over the position and will take our time in an effort to get the right man. We need somebody of experience." It is likely to be the end of the month before Ton announce a permanent successor to Davie Irons, who was sacked in September.
