ALLAN Moore has revealed the players currently on trial at Morton will have until the weekend to convince him they are worth further consideration.
This week's training sessions have been made up of around 30 players after the club offered a host of trialists the opportunity to impress.
But the Ton gaffer is now keen to reduce this number and has organised a training match between them to help him make a final decision.
He said: "We've got a game on Saturday where we can have a look at them. It's just an inter-squad game.
"We've got 30 players here and it is so all of them can get a chance and we can get a look at them.
"We'll start whittling it down a wee bit from then." While Moore will give the hopefuls ample time to earn their chance, he did admit a couple had already caught his eye.
He said: "It was all ball work in the morning and for a full hour the ball was out and they were working hard.
"There are a couple of French boys we've got a hold of. You can see their technical ability is really good - they never gave the ball away.
"They are not the biggest but they've got good vision and work the ball well." However, two players who will not feature on the eventual shortlist are defender Brian Allison and forward Tam McManus, with Moore quashing speculation Ton were lining up moves for both players.
McManus is keen to remain in Scotland after leaving Ayr United at the end of last season, while Moore twice took Allison on loan to Stirling Albion when the defender was at Falkirk.
He added: "The Brian Allison link came about because of our Stirling connection, but I think he is at Stirling Albion at the moment.
"I have never contacted Tam McManus and nobody has contacted me on his behalf.
"There is nothing in it. I've never spoken to the boy and he hasn't spoken to me.
"We've got four strikers in that we think will do the business next year. But that can change if we get a couple of injuries."
