DEREK Lyle would love to have marked his Ton debut with a goal - but insists it doesn't matter who scores as long as the team wins.
The 29-year-old made an influential start to his Cappielow career by providing the cross from which David O'Brien opened the scoring, to top off an impressive all-round display.
And although the former Hamilton striker, above, admits it would have been nice to score, he maintains he is just as happy setting up goals for others.
He said: "Personally, I thought I did fine today. I've not played in a while, so I'm pleased with my performance, all it really lacked was a goal. I got a wee knock but I wasn't keen to come off.
"I want to get as much playing time as I can because every game will get me that wee bit sharper and will increase my confidence. Then the goals will come, hopefully.
"But it's not about me. The main thing was getting the result and if I can lay on a goal or two and we win the game then I'll be delighted.
"I'm here to do my best for Morton and help the team get up the table a wee bit." A visibly delighted Allan Moore beamed: "That's a good start to the New Year.
"I went to watch Cowdenbeath against Dunfermline and expected us to win today, to be honest.
"We were rusty in the first half and the fans were a bit restless, which you can understand. We just needed to get that first goal.
"Once we got it we could see the Cowdenbeath heads go down a wee bit and once we got the second we knew that was us and that we'd be okay for the victory.
"Derek Lyle's inclusion gave us a lift, and I've been delighted with Brian Graham. I thought we had a lot of good performances today.
"At the end of the day, the result gets us up the league and makes our position look a wee bit more respectable." Disconsolate Cowdenbeath gaffer Jimmy Nicholl said: "You can say what you want about their goals being deflected or maybe offside, but you've got to make your own luck and we haven't been doing that."
