SACKED Morton boss Davie Irons has said he wishes the club well in the future.
Speaking to the Telegraph on his dismissal, he commented: "It's a decision based on results and I understand that. Managers take the rap when things don't go well.
"It's disappointing, but I wish the club all the best in the future and also to whoever takes over. James Grady and Allan McManus will take over in the short term, I believe. I have my own opinions of those two but will keep them to myself.
"Some issues I had to contend with won't go away simply because I've gone. But I enjoyed it. We had some good times, though this year has been a struggle for various reasons.
"I would like to thank the fans for their backing. I maybe wasn't the most popular appointment but I appreciate the backing that I did get."
