WEST Scotland MSP Jamie Greene has slammed the decision to cut access to GP out-of-hours services in Inverclyde.

He joins a number of other politicians in criticising a controversial health board decision which means people in Inverclyde will have to travel to Paisley to see a doctor when surgeries are closed, apart from limited local hours on Saturday and Sunday.

Mr Greene said: “The decision taken by NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde is a serious one which will inevitably harm patients who will have to go further to get the treatment they need."

The Conservative MSP added: “The SNP’s tax and axe approach to public services has left the health board sorely underfunded. But this is a vital service, and the board must find a way to reinstate out-of-hours GP services in Inverclyde.

“Out-of-hours GP services are the latest victim of the SNP’s wilful incompetence when it comes to abandoning public services."
