Album of the Week: Bon Jovi - Forever

This new release features 12 new songs from one of history’s most iconic bands Bon Jovi and includes the hit lead single Legendary.

This album announcement almost came as a surprise to many, with the fact that the main man, Jon Bon Jovi, underwent surgery on his vocal cords in 2022.

The results of the surgery were an unknown at the time, rendering the possibility of a new album and certainly touring, very much in jeopardy.

Thankfully, all went well, though the affectations aren’t entirely un-noticed with vowel pronouncement a little different that what we’re used to from such an iconic voice.

Anyway, on to the album itself. This one is an album that really takes stock of all the band has done over a 40-plus years.

It showcases all the mischief and swagger that we’ve become accustomed to, and some that signature “cheese” that goes with the territory in this particular realm of hard-rock music, in the best way of course.

The album flirts with other sounds with little Country flavours coming out at points and it is overall very much a good listen and a well-deserved victory lap.

The largely spoken about topic in the landscape of Bon Jovi is the lack of Richie Sambora, which is apparent again here with the work of guitarist Phil X not totally setting things alight.

A good release over all and well worth the time, if you’re a fan.
