My Dad informed me of Gerry’s passing and I was very saddened to hear this news. He was a lovely man, a deep thinker, way too kind and generous with his time and thoughts for his own good; he could make you think, he could make you laugh; most of all he had a great faith in the sacred heart of Jesus and in the all powerful intercessor, our blessed mother, Mary. He didn’t go on about it but it was unshakeable in Gerry.
He loved his parents and he missed them, they were clearly wonderful parents (i didn’t know Gerry’s parents) with that peaceful joy that they brought out in Gerry that never, ever left him. Gerry was very close to God, and I really sense that God was also very close to Gerry, and I really feel and believe that Gerry is in Paradise with his family and his blessed lord, where he was always beautifully destined to be.
I shall miss you Gerry and our many chats in town that we often had. You were one of the very few people I have encountered, that I can say was completely and authentically, good, that I have known in life, and I thank God than I got to know this lovely man.
RIP, wise friend, child of God, until we meet again Gerry. James Molloy.
