Donald and I knew each other, through others, for many years, mainly after I left Port Glasgow and moved to Glasgow. I regularly met up with him at weekends and we would trade stories about our home town. As life took over for both of us, it was always delightful to receive a card from him at Christmas and for me to send him a card and letter outlining my last year. So when I didn't receive a card this year I perhaps feared the worst and having read the obituary notice it confirmed my fears. I feel a real sense of sadness at the loss of a thoroughly decent friend and man who was well liked and respected by his contemporaries. The world is a lesser place with you no longer here but may you have been welcomed into the arms of your parents again. With all my love. John

My thoughts are with the family at this sad time. Donnie was a good and trusted neighbour to my parents for many years. He will be greatly missed by many members of the church community and all the other organisations he was part of. Today and always, may loving memories of Donnie, bring you peace, comfort and strength.
