ROCK and roll music man Alvin Stardust has played so many gigs during his lengthy career that he's not sure if he has played Greenock before.
The man whose career has spanned five decades is set to take to stage in the town this week but can't remember if he's been before.
He gave an exclusive interview to the Tele about his upcoming show, which we also have two pairs of tickets in a cracking competition.
Alvin said: "It would be unusual if I hadn't played somewhere before because I have played in so many places over the years.
"But we have had great reports about Greenock and the Arts Guild Theatre.
"It's nice for me because I have worked in theatre as well as performing in concerts. I was the Child Catcher in Chitty and was in Phantom of the Opera.
"But I missed my music so much that I decided to get a band together to play concerts, and it's been fantastic." Earlier this year, Alvin played to a packed crowd at Barrfields Theatre in Largs.
Alvin said: "I always had great memories of playing to Scottish crowds, although I was in a bit of trepidation before the shows.
"But it was even better than I remembered it - I had such a great welcome." The Coo Coo Choo singer said that he loves being able to play the music he knows and loves.
He said: "The show in Greenock will be kind of everything I have known - from 50s rock and roll that I grew up with, through all the hits people know, to cover versions of songs I really like. We do a great rock cover of Duffy's Mercy.
"It's two really good sets and usually by the end of it we have the crowd really going and we have become friends with the audience." Alvin Stardust is at the Arts Guild Theatre on 28 October. Contact the box office on 723038 for tickets.
l The Tele has teamed up with the Arts Guild to offer two pairs of tickets for Friday's show - plus the chance to meet Alvin afterwards.
