THIEVES have targeted the home of Morton and stolen expensive sound equipment - plus the club mascot Cappie the Cat.
Police have launched an appeal for information after Cappielow was targeted some time between Monday 24 and Saturday 30 September.
Thieves broke into the ground and the stadium tannoy room and made off with the public announcement - PA - system as well as the Cappie the Cat costume, which was dismembered.
The head and feet and hands of the moggie mascot were later found near to the ground but police are still searching for the body.
Sergeant Stuart Drake of Greenock police said: "At the time of the break-in the ground wasn't being used.
"Entry was forced into the tannoy room and the PA mixing desk stolen.
"The club mascot, Cappie the Cat, was also stolen.
"Its hands and feet were later recovered at the scene and its head found in a nearby garden.
"The body is still uncovered."
Police are appealing for information from the public about the break-in or the whereabouts of the missing mixing desk or Cappie's body.
