POLICE officers are standing guard at a run-down farm in Port Glasgow as part of a major abduction investigation.
Officers have been at the remote Devol Farm, pictured, all weekend as part of an inquiry which is being led by officers from Glasgow.
The officers are at the scene in connection with an alleged abduction which took place in Milngavie Road, Bearsden, on Friday.
Police vehicles were still on the scene of the farm, which is near to Port Glasgow Golf Club, this morning.
Detectives from elsewhere in the Strathclyde Police force area are said to be leading the investigation.
Reports circulating locally said that a man who was being held at the remote farm buildings had escaped before fleeing towards nearby houses.
Police today refused to comment in detail on the incident.
Sergeant Stuart Drake, of Greenock police, said: "There are uniformed officers standing at that location, securing it at present.
"It's an ongoing enquiry, dealt with by CID.
"Inquiries are led by officers from Glasgow."
