TWO people have been arrested following a fire at a house in Port Glasgow.
Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to the scene in the town’s West Woodside Avenue at 7.20pm on Friday night.
A man and a woman were taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment as a result of the small blaze.
They were later apprehended in connection with alleged drugs offences.
It is understood that a mattress caught fire at the house.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman told the Telegraph today: “At 7.20pm on Friday, police received a report of a fire within a property at West Woodside Avenue in Port Glasgow.
“Emergency services attended and a 30-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment.
“They have since been released. Both are the subjects of a report to the procurator fiscal in connection with alleged drugs offences.”
The Telegraph understands that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
