CROWDS gathered in Birkmyre Park in Kilmacolm to enjoy all that was on offer at St Columba’s School Summer Fete.
Activities on the day were pupil-led and one of the highlights included Pooches in the Park, a mini Crufts event that saw owners enter their dogs in different competition rounds, from ‘best lookalike’ to ‘waggiest tail’.
The best lookalike crown went to a dog named Murdo, whose owner Archie Thomson is in J6 at the school while the waggiest tail crown was claimed by Coco, whose owner Lily McCarey attends the school.
The parents' association, with the help of the pupils, also launched St Columba’s first Mini Tough Mudder obstacle course.
Ella Morrison took the mini mudder title for the lower junior school, Charlie Dunnet shone for the upper junior school, Ewan Simpson completed the course to take the title for the lower senior school and Zoe Sayers gave it her all to clinch the title for the upper seniors.
A tennis tournament also proved a smashing success, with prizes up for grabs for the longest rally.
Hector Fullone took first place in the competition followed by Sam Gordon in second and Archie McArthur in third.
The infants were kept entertained by the appearance of Bookbug and enjoyed an afternoon of arts and crafts and face painting.
St Columba’s Pipe Band were on hand to provide musical entertainment, impressing parents, pupils and local residents who attended the event.
As well as enjoying an afternoon of fun the crowds helped to raise money for a range of different charities including Cancer Research and Glasgow Disabled Scouts.
Stalls were also run by the Rotary Club, Kilmacolm Amateur Dramatic Society, Girl Guides and Eileen MacCallum Trust.
Ian Downie, chair of the Parents' Association, said: “Thanks to everyone who came along - it was fantastic to see such a great turnout and the community come together to celebrate the start of a new school year.
“We had a great time and we hope everyone else did too.”
