A GREENOCK woman had the run of the town's Aldi store to herself after winning the chance to take part in a supermarket sweep.
Gillian Neeson was the lucky winner of the in-store competition and cleaned up at the Patrick Street store after hours in a frantic five-minute trolley dash.
As well as taking home trolley packed with products for herself, Gillian was given the chance to choose a charity to receive the value of the goods she collected.
Gillian said: "I chose the Inverclyde foodbank because in this day and age we shouldn’t need them but the sad fact is that we do.
"I feel strongly that if you are able to help someone then you should.
"In a world where you can do anything, you should do good."
Gillian had five minutes to grab as much food as she could, with a trolley left at every aisle.
She said: "It was strange being in the store after hours as it was so quiet.
"I shop in Aldi, so I had a good idea of the layout of the shop.
"The challenge was to achieve a good amount for the foodbank so my strategy was to collect as much steak, beef, chicken and salmon as possible to boost the total.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my Supermarket Sweep and had to get a lot in my trolley to raise as much money as possible for the foodbank.
Gillian managed to grab a variety of products totalling £373.55, with the cash sum donated to the local charity.
They have thanked Gillian for choosing them and say it will help them to support more families across Inverclyde with short term emergency supplies.
Richard Holloway, regional managing director for Aldi Scotland, said: “The Aldi supermarket sweep is now a firm favourite across the country and this time it was the turn of Gillian to take part.
“During the five-minute sweep at our Patrick Street store, Gillian managed to snap up a whole load of Aldi treats for herself and what’s more, raise an incredible amount for Inverclyde Foodbank.”
Gillian added: "I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to take part in such a fantastic event."
