A WOMAN was taken to hospital following a house fire in Greenock.
The female was evacuated from a property in Jura Street late last night.
Three fire engines and an aerial appliance attended the scene when the alarm was raised just after 11pm.
The woman was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital by ambulance for treatment for smoke inhalation.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Serve spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 11.09pm on Friday April 5 to reports of a house fire in Greenock.
“A number of fire engines were mobilised to Jura Street where firefighters extinguished the fire.
“One female casualty was given fire survival guidance by our experienced operations control staff before being led to safety by crews.
“She was transferred into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service with smoke inhalation and thereafter taken to hospital.”
Fire crews remained on scene until 2.50am on Saturday until they were satisfied the area was safe.
