ONE of Inverclyde's best beauty spots has been tidied up after a clean sweep by volunteers.
A group of more than 30 people turned up for the beach clean in Lunderston Bay.
Ranger John MacLean, of Clyde Murshiel Regional Park accompanied the volunteers on the day and praised everyone who went along.
He said: "It was well attended, especially in the middle of the holidays.
"We had 37 volunteers and quite a few new faces too.
"It was very positive to see them coming out."
John revealed that the litter pickers found a total of 1,935 items.
These included pieces of plastic, polystyrene and sanitary waste flushed down toilets.
He added: "We picked up 510 cotton buds and 400 little pieces of plastic.
"I think beach cleans like this help to raise awareness of the issues.
"I also had a chat with volunteers who were really keen on highlighting the dangers to the marine environment."
The next beach clean is on September 21.
It will be held between 11am and 1pm, setting off from the car park.
