A DISABLED cancer survivor and his multiple sclerosis-suffering neighbour have had their mobility vehicles vandalised by a twisted thug.

Raymond Elliott, who is recovering from three heart attacks in the space of just nine weeks, was sickened when he discovered two of his car tyres had been slashed.

It happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Greenock's Roxburgh Avenue.

His next door neighbour's mobility scooter, parked yards away in Wellington Way, was also badly damaged during the 1.30am wrecking spree.

All four of the buggy's tyres were slashed, the wing mirrors were knocked off and smashed, and a memory foam seat cushion was ripped apart.

The scooter is used by a woman who suffers from MS.

Mr Elliott, 59, had just returned home following a stay in hospital after suffering his latest heart attack.

The former taxi driver also lives in constant pain as a result of life-saving treatment for cancer, which he was diagnosed with in November 2014.

He told the Tele: "I don't need this sort of hassle. "I just got four new tyres a couple of months ago.

"Now I have to try and find the money for two new ones.

"I can't walk the length of myself and my neighbour has MS and can hardly move herself.

"I just don't get why someone would do this, especially to two disabled people.

"They are pondlife."

The mindless act was captured on Mr Elliott's personal security camera, with the CCTV footage now passed to police to aid their investigations.

The lone culprit appears to be a young man in his late teens to early 20s who was wearing shorts, trainers and was topless.

He is also thought to have been smoking whilst carrying out the vandalism.

Mr Elliott, who lives in Wellington Way, said: "How would he feel if it was his dad, grandad or whatever? "I just don't get it."

Mr Elliott's car was parked in a disabled bay in Roxburgh Avenue near to his house with his blue badge on display.

His neighbour's scooter was just yards away outside her front door and under a tunnel connecting to the property opposite.

The woman, who does not want to be named, said: "It's ridiculous to think somebody would do that.

"I'm absolutely fuming."

The culprit was also seen sitting on the scooter and trying to start it up before heading off through Wellington Way, damaging another neighbour's outdoor solar light in the process.

Anyone with information is urged to call Greenock police on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
