NEWARK Care Home marked the start of the summer in style with a fabulous fete.

Colourful bunting adorned the Port Glasgow home as staff and residents joined family, friends and the wider community for an excellent afternoon.

Margaret McClure, who is an activities co-ordinator at the home, said they were blessed with glorious weather.

She said: "It was fantastic.

"I was worried about the weather but it was sunny, which was great.

"I try and organise the fete to coincide with the Newark Primary School fun day which was in the morning, so they come over to mine in the afternoon."

The event raised almost £1,000 which will go towards day trips and outings for the residents.

Margaret added: "I was happy to raise £800.

"I only thought we would raise half of that, so I'm over-the-moon."

Margaret was keen to thank everyone who came along and those who helped to organise the event especially Pamela McKellar and Elaine McDade, who are also activities co-ordinators at the home, as well as Teresa McNelis, the deputy manager, and Philip Allison, a carer who organised the live music.

She is also keen to thank everyone who generously donated to the raffle, especially Morton in the Community for their generous donation of two tickets to a Ton game.
