A SUPER summer fun day raised £2,000 to help a Greenock school ring the changes.
St Mary's Primary pupils and staff are decanted at the former Sacred Heart building in Westmorland Road while their home in Patrick Street undergoes a £6 million refurbishment and extension.
The school's parent partnership arranged the annual fete in their temporary home and were delighted at how much they raised.
Veronica Pollard, who is joint chair with Denise McLaughlin, said: "The day was a great success.
"We raised over £2,000 towards school funds and this will help to buy new items like sports equipment for when we move into the new school in January."
Families flocked to the get-together which included visits from the police and fire service, a bouncy castle, face painting and a sports station run by the Active Schools team.
There were also lots of stalls and games with prizes to be won.
Veronica said: "Our chocolate tombola was very popular - it was our biggest earner."
There were raffles and an auction, home baking and hot dogs, with all the attractions contributing towards the amount of money raised.
Veronica: "We had good footfall and it's the most we've ever raised at a fete.
"We had great support from parents, pupils and former pupils.
"It's all very well organising the event but if you don't have the volunteers it can't go ahead.
"We are very grateful to all parents for their donations and to everyone who helped and who came along on the day including the fire brigade, police and Active Schools."
