A SPOT of rain couldn't stop play as youngsters from a Greenock school held their action-packed sports day.

Children at All Saints Primary were in competitive mode as they ignore the wet weather to go for glory.

The mixed teams competed for points in a variety of races and events.

Pupils tested their hula hooping skills, their bean bag balancing ability, jumped over obstacles and showed their speed in the races while cheering on others in their team.

There was also a sports quiz in the canteen where the teams could enjoy a rest before continuing with the competition.

The event, supported by Inverclyde Active Schools and planned by Craig Carswell, health and wellbeing coach, was well attended by staff and parents who helped ensure it was a success.

Helen Clews, principal teacher at All Saints, said: “It was a great day despite the weather.

“The pupils didn’t let it dampen their spirits and powered through the outdoor activities before tackling the races indoors.

“They seemed to enjoy being in mixed teams.

“It is an event everyone always looks forward to - and the ice lolly at the end was enjoyed and appreciated by all!

“We would like to thank all the staff, parents and pupils for their help in making it a success.

"It was great to see everyone having so much fun.”
