A GREENOCK woman has celebrated clocking up the remarkable milestone of being in her job for half a century.
Margaret Stevenson was spoiled by her colleagues at Welsh Walker Chartered Accountants who laid on a party to mark the milestone.
Margaret, 65, who is a cashier, says she never thought when she first started that she would ever be celebrating 50 years at the same company.
She said: “I remember being both nervous and excited on my first day.
"It was my first job.
“I never for a minute thought I’d be celebrating this length of time.
"I still can’t quite believe it, and it doesn’t feel like 50 years.
“The people are my favourite thing about the job, all those I have worked with over the years have been great.
"It was lovely to celebrate with my colleagues.”
Tracey Orr, director at Welsh Walker, made a speech at the celebration lunch where she thanked Margaret on behalf of the company.
She said: “Staff, directors and clients alike only have good things to say about Margaret.
"She is well thought of and an integral part of our team.
“Our celebration in the office was to mark this milestone with Margaret and to let her know how important she is to us.
“On behalf of all the partners that Margaret has worked with over the years, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank-you for all her hard work, dedication and loyalty to the firm.”
