STAFF and residents at a Greenock care home blew everyone's socks off with a fabulous festive appeal to help homeless people.
Larkfield View Care Home activity co-ordinators Sharon Kelly and Linda Daisley spotted an advert for the Fill A Sock drive and thought it was a great idea they could help with.
The idea of the appeal is simple - people stuff a sock with items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, sweets, a comb, gloves, handwipes, underwear and socks.
The socks are then tied with a coloured ribbon and given out to people who are sleeping rough on the streets.
Thanks to the generosity of staff, residents, family and friends around 50 homeless people have benefited.
Organisers have thanked everyone who contributed so generously to the collection.
Frances Rice, a business support administrator at Larkfield View, said: “We do lots of fundraising which the community always help and get involved with and we thought it would be nice to give something back this year.
"We started the appeal back on November 27 and planned to run it for three or four weeks.
“The response has been so good from staff and the residents have really enjoyed taking part and filling up the socks.
"They think it is a really good cause.
“It feels rewarding to know we can help someone and we want to thank Sharon and Linda for coming up with the idea to get involved.”
