THE iconic Wemyss Bay Railway Station was just edged out by a Scottish rival for a national award.
The 'World Cup of Stations' was run by National Rail online and saw 48 stations go head to head with over 95,000 votes cast on Twitter.
Wemyss Bay was pipped by Glasgow Queen Street in the Scottish heats, with the historic coastal station receiving 36 per cent of the vote compared to Glasgow’s 43 per cent.

“Its new facde is stunning."
Wemyss Bay was shortlisted out of 2,579 stations across the UK through an online poll.
The station opened in 1865 and handles around 200,000 passengers each year.
