A ROBBER out of prison on licence after repeatedly smashing a brick against her victim's head says police 'humiliated' her during an arrest on Christmas Eve over a domestic bust-up.
Carla Campbell claims she was taken from her mother's home wearing just her bra and a pair of shorts and wasn't allowed to pull on shoes as officers physically removed her from the property.
Campbell, 27, was apprehended over an allegation — subsequently dropped by prosecutors — that she'd attacked her sister to injury by smashing a glass bottle off her head on December 24.
She pleaded guilty at Greenock Sheriff Court to assaulting a police officer by kicking his head, and to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing.
Campbell's lawyer, Ellen Macdonald, told Greenock Sheriff Court: "Miss Campbell's position is that she was in her bra and shorts at the time and she asked to put footwear on and this request was declined.
"Neighbours have reported seeing her being arrested in her bra and shorts.
"Individuals at the police office are taking anything between 25 and 45 minutes to be processed.
"Miss Campbell says she felt humiliated and degraded.
"That doesn't excuse her behaviour but goes some way to explaining her frustration."
Campbell, of Oxford Road, Larkfield, was jailed in October 2018 for a brutal street attack and robbery in the east end of Greenock which left a woman severely injured.
She snatched jewellery and money from her victim during the incident on Ingleston Street and Cartsburn Street.
In imposing a custodial sentence of 37 months at the time, Sheriff Derek Hamilton referred to Campbell's criminal record, which includes a conviction for assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement and impairment.
Of her latest offence, prosecutor John Penman told the court how police were called to the house on Oxford Road by her mother.
Fiscal depute Mr Penman said: "The sisters had an argument which got out of hand.
"Officers were advised and they arrested Miss Campbell, and in the process of being arrested she was restrained on the couch in the living room.
"Whilst shouting and swearing at the two officers she lashed out and struck one of them in the manner libelled."
Solicitor Ms Macdonald said: "Drink had been taken and matters escalated."
Campbell has been remanded in custody since the incident.
Sheriff Michael Higgins deferred sentence for a background report and electronic tagging assessment until February 12 and further remanded her in custody until then.
