HOUSING bosses have instructed a specialist contractor to dig up a Greenock man's garden after complaints over flooding.

Michael Doherty, who lives in Greenock's Grieve Road, told the Tele how water had been pouring onto his drying green area and over a wall onto slabs at the back of his home for eight years.

He complained about Oak Tree Housing Association's handling of the matter and contacted Councillor Tommy McVey for assistance who claims he got no further.

Councillor McVey and Mr Doherty then turned to the Telegraph.

Nick Jardine, chief executive officer of Oak Tree, said: "We have instructed a specialist contractor to go out, they wanted to do an excavation of the garden.

"We thought because of Covid this may take some time but they went out on Friday.

"This will give us confirmation of the cause and who is responsible.

"We should know the results this week."
