DRIVERS face disruption as part of a busy Greenock town centre main road closes for 'essential maintenance'.
Work on the short key stretch between the A78 East/West Shaw Street roundabout and Sir Michael Street Roundabout is scheduled to begin on Saturday February 13 at 8pm.
The £16,000 project should be completed by 6am on Monday February 15.
Over 15,000 vehicles use the stretch each day and trunk road bosses Amey say the project is needed to 'improve safety ahead of a structural maintenance scheme'.
A diversion will be in place, with southbound traffic from the A8 exiting at the Bullring Roundabout and then rejoining the A78 at Bankfoot Roundabout near Inverkip.
Northbound traffic will follow the same diversion in the opposite direction.
