A GREENOCK man has been charged with racially abusing an Asian man in the street.

Adam Peden, 22, is said to have shouted at the man, threatened him with violence and directed racial remarks towards him.

Prosecutors say Peden acted in a racially aggravated manner which caused, or was intended to cause, alarm or distress to the man.

The alleged offence is said to have occurred on Nicolson Street on February 15 in 2019.

Peden, of Brisbane Street, has pleaded not guilty at the sheriff court through lawyer Aidan Gallagher.

The case is due to call again in June.
