AN MSP from Greenock has expressed concern over the number of elective hospital operations cancelled.
Jamie Greene has spoken out following a recent report which shows 1595 procedures were cancelled between March and October 2020 across NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, including at Inverclyde Royal.
Around two thirds were shelved by the health board but over 400 were put off by patients themselves.
Mr Greene said: "Patients in Inverclyde who have cancelled their operations for fear of catching Covid should know that hospitals have put extensive measures in place in order to protect them from catching the disease.
"I would like to extend my thanks to the staff working at NHS GGC for all they have been doing in these challenging circumstances.
"We owe them a debt of gratitude."
