A PORT councillor has welcomed a £1.2m cash boost to refurbish one of the town's oldest buildings.
Inverclyde Council secured the cash from the Scottish Government to transform the King George VI building in King Street into a modern community hub.
Councillor Jim MacLeod said: "I was delighted to see that the council's bid to the Scottish Government's Regeneration Capital Grant Fund has been successful.
"This funding will breathe new life in to an iconic building in my council ward, enabling it to be refurbished and used as a community resource, particularly by many people who previously used the Clune Park Resource Centre."
Meeting rooms, offices and a cafe are part of the plans for the revamp.
