GREENOCK born MSP Jamie Greene has highlighted the importance of talking about mental health following our successful Time to Talk day.
The Greenock Telegraph's campaign cleansed all social media channels of any negative news and comments for 24 hours in a bid to encourage positivity - and encouraged people struggling to seek help.
Our initiative sparked a wave of positive reaction.
Mr Greene says discussing mental health issues with others can be a vital first step to making a difference and reducing the stigma.
He said: “Every day is an opportunity to talk about mental health.
“Discussing mental health issues with friends and family can be difficult, but taking that first step and starting the conversation can make a real difference and lift a weight off your shoulders.
“The ongoing pandemic has made face-to-face conversations harder for many of us, but thanks to modern technology most people are only a phone call, text or Zoom call away.
“Although we have come a long way in recent years, there is still a lot to be done to reduce stigma around mental health and I commend the Greenock Telegraph for their campaign to get people talking.”
