A GREENOCK man charged with making threats towards his former partner has had his bail order tailored - to allow him to retain joint custody of their pet dog.

John McLaughlan, 52, had originally been told he had to stay away from his ex's street in Branchton, but this was changed so that he can collect the animal from a third party there.

His lawyer, Aidan Gallagher, told the sheriff court: "They share a dog and continue to share a dog, which he collects at the end of the street."

The bail order was amended to preventing McLaughlan, of Denholm Gardens, from going to his ex's specific address.

He must also not approach or contact her, or attempt to do so, in any way.

The charge against him alleges that he threatened the woman whilst in possession of scissors, or a similar implement, on January 4.

McLaughlan has pleaded not guilty through solicitor Mr Gallagher, with the case due to call again in March.
