A PORT Glasgow charity champ who collected throughout the first lockdown has launched a petition to have a street in Inverclyde named after Captain Sir Tom Moore.
Eddie Lapsley, who helped with donations for Compassionate Inverclyde, has set up a petition in recognition of Captain Tom, who raised almost £33m for NHS charities by walking laps of his garden.
He recently passed away after contracting coronavirus.
More than 100 people have signed Eddie's petition so far to honour the ex-serviceman locally.
Eddie said: "Captain Tom left a lasting legacy and inspired the nation to come together during its toughest times.
"Naming a street after him here would keep his memory alive and would be a way of remembering all those people locally who have lost their lives during this pandemic."
